NEET-UG 2025: Girl denied entry over steel buttons, here's how a woman cop saved the day

After securing permission from higher officials, she took the student to a nearby store on her bike and helped her buy a new outfit

The exam day was also marred by several incidents of confusion and strict entry checks across Tamil Nadu. In Tiruppur, S Kanimozhi, a student from Uthukuli, was barred from entering an exam centre in TM Poondi due to the steel buttons on her dress.

However, MR Manimegalai, a woman police constable, who was on duty there, stepped in to the student’s aid. After securing permission from higher officials, she took the student to a nearby store on her bike and helped her buy a new outfit, stated a report by The New Indian Express.

As many as 141 students who took the NEET Examination (The National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam) remained absent from various examination centres of the Chitradurga district on Sunday said May 4, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) BT Kumaraswamy.

Out of total 3019 students 2878 students appeared for the exam and 141 students were absent from the exam at 6 Examination centres of the district. To ensure the smooth conduct of the NEET examination, a prohibitory order was imposed within a radius of 200 metres around the examination center and police security was imposed, according to the report by The New Indian Express.

A total of 4,269 MBBS aspirants were present and 147 were absent for UG NEET exam conducted at nine centres in Krishnagiri district on Sunday, May 4.
