A slew of skill development schemes - Industry on Campus, online placement scheme, crash finishing skill training programmes - were launched by Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP) under the Department of Higher Education in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.
Minister for Higher Education K T Jaleel launched the Industry on Campus scheme which aims at creating a sample industry within the campus to facilitate students to practice and understand the courses they have taken and give them the opportunity to earn while they learn. Finance Minister Thomas Isaac launched the online placement drive scheme - ASPIRE 2020, which aims at training educated talents from the state in the latest technologies and equip them for employment opportunities available across the globe.
In the phase I, ASAP is planning to conduct an online placement drive for about 7,500 trainees who have completed their training. The inaugural event was attended by principal secretary of Higher Education Usha Titus, ASAP Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Veena N Madhavan also took part.
