Government Arts College for Women inaugurated in Coimbatore from this academic year

Tamil Nadu has announced a new government arts college for women at Puliyakulam in Coimbatore. According to the letter by C Poorna Chandran, Director of TNDCE to Joint Directors of the department on Thursday, as part of starting seven new government arts colleges at Ariyalur, Karur, Villupuram, Virudhunagar, Nagapattinam and Ranipettai, the Government Arts College for Women has been set up in Coimbatore for the academic year 2020 - 2021.

For other districts, co-education colleges have been announced. The directorate has announced that those colleges will be brought to functioning from this year with five undergraduate courses inclusing BA Tamil, BA English, B Com, B Sc Maths and B Sc Computer Science. It has communicated to Joint Directors to discuss with District Collectors of seven districts to facilitate places for colleges immediately. For the commencement of colleges from this year, it has been asked to facilitate private or government buildings for the establishing of colleges. To set up the government arts college for women, five acres of land will be earmarked for the purpose at Puliyakulam in Coimbatore.
