Three fresh petitions that sought the postponement of the medical entrance examination NEET were dismissed by a Supreme Court bench. The exam will now be held on September 13. The petitions were heard by a bench comprising of Justices Ashok Bhushan, M R Shah and  R Subhash Reddy which said that it (bench) "is not inclined". While hearing the petition, Justice Bhushan asked. "Everything is over now. The review has also been dismissed. JEE is also over. How can we consider the petition now?" Justice Shah also noted that all the arrangements have been made by the authorities and that the exam is just a few days away.

At the same time, the lawyers representing the petitioners argued that students cannot come out of containment zones, considering there have been spikes in COVID cases. They also noted that places like Bihar have only two centres and that the trains are still not running. Another prayer in a petition was to allow the students another chance to write the exam.

Previously, a petition seeking the postponement of JEE and NEET was dismissed by a Supreme Court bench. A review petition on this matter filed by ministers of various Indian states was also dismissed. Following the same, JEE was held from September 1 to 6.
