In what is undoubtedly a proud day for the Karnataka State Police Department, Kaveri D, a police constable has been awarded four gold medals and a cash prize in yesterday's Convocation at Mysore University. It has been only two months since Kaveri joined the police department as a police constable at the Nanjangud Police Station in Chamrajnagar district.

The newly appointed police constable has been congratulated by higher rank police officials appreciating her hard work and for topping the Economics subject. Even Suresh Kumar S, Minister for Education also congratulated Kaveri.

This 23-year-old, who is happy about her achievement, says, "I finished pursuing my degree recently from Government First Aid College in Chamrajnagar. My subjects were History, Economics and Political Science. The total marks that I scored in Economics alone was 91 per cent. Hence, I was given four gold medals along with the cash prize. The total aggregate percentage of my degree is 83 per cent."

Coming from a humble family, Kaveri's father is a farmer. Soon after her degree final exams, she wrote the Common Entrance Test for police constable and got selected. "Though I wanted to pursue post graduation, I chose to work because of the financial constraints at home. Now that I am working as a constable, I would like to write competitive exams and qualify for higher ranks in the department. I have already started preparing for the Sub-Inspector exams and Karnataka Public Service Commission also. I hope to crack these exams also with good marks," she said.
