Films Division to screen documentaries and animated short films on the International Day of Girl Child

The Films Division will be showcasing select animation and documentary films to mark the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11, 2020. These films specially dedicated to girl children includes Chimukali – Save the girl child, a three minute animated film which focuses on saving the girl child and stopping female foeticide followed by a few documentaries. A five minute documentary film called, Education-Only Her Future, a 20-minutes film called, Pratibha, Kuldeepak, a 60-minutes documentary, My Fairy - My Strength, a 39 minute one and Roshini which is a 58-minute documentary film.

Every year, UNICEF launches an annual campaign with girls to encourage them stand up for their rights. Hence, this year’s theme is, My voice - Our Equal Future. The idea behind launching this theme is to motivate girls to re-imagine a better world by creating equal opportunities. These films being screened also convey the same message to the society especially to those who are at the forefront of saving girl children from all kinds of exploitation.
