The attendance of class 10 students touched 50.74 per cent on Wednesday after reopening of schools in Andhra Pradesh on November 2, said Education Minister A Suresh. In a statement, he said that the attendance of class 9 students stood at 39.57 per cent.

Overall, the students' attendance has increased to 45.15 per cent from 43.71 percent on Tuesday. When it comes to the attendance of Intermediate Second Year students, it increased to 36.44 per cent on Wednesday from 35.69 per cent registered on Tuesday, he informed.

He further said that instructions were given to the officials to run the educational institutions adhering strictly to COVID-19 guidelines, apart from conducting medical tests for both students and teachers at regular intervals. “We are monitoring the virus spread in all the districts. Instructions have been given to the officials to monitor sanitation in schools and make wearing of masks and ensuring social distancing norms mandatory,” Suresh added.

Students' test samples being collected at PHCs and UHCs

DMHO M Sushasini has said that 6,000 above samples per day are being collected from students and teachers by the health department at the Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Urban Health Centres (UHCs) and at schools spread across Krishna, despite the iMASQ buses stopped their operations.

In a video link conference held with the officials on Wednesday, the DMHO called on the students and teachers with symptoms of cold, fever and cough to get their samples tested at their schools, PHCs and UHCs to contain the further spread of the virus in the district. A total of 43,050 samples have been collected by the district health department between November 4 and 10, she added.
