Last Thursday, the Karnataka State Government announced that places like malls, theatres, parks etc will be shut for a week due to the scare of COVID-19 and had confirmed that the exams for Classes 7 to 9 will happen as per the schedule. However, on Sunday morning, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, S Sureshkumar announced that as a precautionary measure, they have instructed to postpone the examinations of Classes 7, 8 and 9 until March 31, 2020. He also stated that the revised dates will be scheduled after taking stock of the situation.

Meanwhile, an order issued by the Department of Public Instruction read that students will have study holidays until exam date is announced. These rules apply to all state and central boards including ICSE, CBSE and IGCSE. As of now, the ongoing Pre-University and upcoming SSLC exams for 10th standard will take place as scheduled.
