Two high school students from Karnataka drown in Cauvery river while on school picnic

In a tragic incident reported from Dubare near here, two students drowned in Cauvery River while swimming, police said on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when they went for swimming. According to police, the deceased students have been identified as Shreyas and Lenin, studying in 9th and 10th grades respectively in a private school of Gonikopala.

Shreyas and Lenin along with 39 students and teachers went for a picnic to Dubare. Shreyas and Lenin went for swimming and due to heavy force of the water both of them were washed away.

Later, Dubare lifeguards pulled the bodies out of the water and after the postmortem the bodies were handed over the parents, police added.
