Sahal, the tenth accused in the murder of Abhimanyu, a student unionist from Maharaja's College, Ernakulam surrendered before a lower court in Kerala, on Thursday. A II year student and an SFI activist, Abhimanyu was stabbed to death on campus on July 2, 2018.

Sahal, an activist associated with the Social Democratic Party of India, has been suspected of stabbing the student and had been absconding. He will now be tested for CVID, before being sent to detention. Mohammed Shaheem, the prime accused in the case had surrendered before the court in November 2019. He had stabbed another student Arjun Krishna, along with Abhimanyu. The murder had created a lot of hue and cry in the state.

Responding to Sahal's surrendering, Arjun said, "He was the last of the accused to surrender. We had trusted the Kerala government and the police. We knew that we will find justice." He added, "We are happy that all of them have surrendered before Abhimayu's second death anniversary. The police had a tough time catching two of them. The rest were all arrested within the first six months of the incident. We hope that the court gives its verdict soon," he added. Arjun is currently pursuing his Master's degree from Maharaja's College.
