To tide over any delays in disbursal by funding agencies, all the Project Investigators are permitted to draw one advance, University of Hyderabad (UoH) said here on Thursday.

UoH has about 500 Research students who obtain fellowships selected through National-level tests by various funding bodies such as Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission (UGC), Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The University made sure that these research students received fellowships during the lockdown period without any interruption.

In addition, to encourage research projects, the University has been giving advance to the Project Investigators for recurring expenses including fellowships to the project staff pending release of grants from the funding agencies.

In a statement, UoH Vice-Chancellor Prof Appa Rao Podile, has informed that the university has granted an advance to all the Project Investigators whose project funds are delayed due to the lockdown or otherwise.

This decision ensured that the project staff salaries will continue during the crisis period, and also takes care of other essential requirements of the projects, he added.
