The students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Delhi have now decided to approach the Bar Council of India, seeking their intervention against the university's decision to conduct online Open Book Examinations for final year students. The examinations are scheduled to begin on August 10.

As part of this, the students are urging the larger community to send mass emails to the Bar Council. According to a statement from the students, they say that this is currently the only option available to them. "The pandemic has not been merciful to academic activities either. In these trying times, the decision of the University of Delhi to conduct online Open Book Exams for final year students has greatly added to the miseries of students. Through this email, the Students of the Faculty of Law requests the Council to intervene in the interests of law students community," reads the email.

The law students also explain why open book examinations won't work for them. "The Faculty of Law follows the casebook method and thus the case material, which is provided by the Faculty to students against a special fee charged by it, serves as the base of study," says the students. However, they allege that despite making the payment, the case materials were not provided due to an administrative delay. They also say that a lot of them do not have the study material and others do not have the required equipment or access to technology to appear for the exam. They have also demanded a mass promotion, keeping the pandemic situation in mind.
