Dr M K Jayaraj is the new Calicut University VC. Appointment after a nine-month-long delay

Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, in his capacity as Chancellor, has appointed M K Jayaraj as the Vice Chancellor of Calicut University. Jayaraj is currently Professor, Department of Physics, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). The post was lying vacant for the past nine months.

The appointment is for a period of four years from the date on which he assumes office. Jayaraj has over 10 years' experience in teaching and research in his current role as Professor at CUSAT. He completed his BSc degree in Physics from Calicut University in 1981 and MSc in the same subject from Cochin University in 1983.

Jayaraj was awarded PhD in Physics by Cochin University in 1990. The academic was also awarded Post-Doctoral fellowship in Spectroscopy by the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad in 1990-91. (Ends)
