The students of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi called off their four-day-long hunger strike after the institute's administration reportedly agreed to all of the demands that the students had put forward. This included extending the deadline to pay the fees, sharing the details of the committee that will decide the new fees and revoking the suspension of its students.

"The last date for submitting the second-semester fees has been extended up to March 31, 2020, or until the notification of the new fee structure, whichever is later," said the students in a release. The release also asks the students to not pay their fees until the new fee structure is finalised.

On February 9, 11 IIMC students were suspended for 'violating the institute's code of conduct'. The IIMC administration had previously told EdexLive that the students did not have the permission to conduct the talk on that date. However, the suspension of those students is now revoked.

"We are thankful to our fellow students for their constant support and encouragement. We are also thankful to the IIC administration for taking a favourable decision," says Jagriti Trisha, a student. Another student Hrishikesh Sharma also shared his happiness towards the decision. "In recent times, such an incident hasn't happened in any other institute in the country. The entire aim of the strike was to make media education affordable. Journalism isn't a glamorous profession, but it warrants responsibility. Anyone in this country must be able to become a journalist," he says.
