The Banaras Hindu University will open its doors to students following a week-long protest by students in front of the VC's residence. The VC said that the Central Library will be opened from December 14, Monday and hostels will be open after the end of this semester's exams, from January 15.

The students have been protesting for the past seven days in front of the VC's residence. Finally, VC Dr Rakesh Bhatnagar confirmed that the Central Library will be opened for 300 students from December 14. The hostels will open after January 15, once the semester exams are over. Academic activities will not need a No Dues certificate this semester, owing to pandemic. The VC has not said anything about the students' demand of starting physical classes yet.

The students, led by the Bhagat Singh Chatra Morcha (BCM), are happy that their protest yielded some results. "This is a great win for us. Our peaceful protest bore results. We were asked to leave, threatened with a police force. But we did not budge," said one of the protesting students.
