Support for students, protesting the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for being held in September, have been pouring in from all quarters. After several Chief Ministers contemplated filing a review petition in the Supreme Court against its decision to not postpone the exams, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has also extended his support to the students.

Using the trending hashtag #AntiStudentModiGovt, Rahul Gandhi tweeted on Wednesday stating why the students are unwilling to appear for the exams and want it postponed. He said that the students are concerned about their health and their future and asked the government of India to find solutions to the problem after considering all the stakeholders. His tweet read, "NEET-JEE aspirants are worried about their health & future. They have genuine concerns of fear of Covid19 infection, transport & lodging during pandemic, flood-mayhem in Assam and Bihar. GOI must listen to all stakeholders & find an acceptable solution."  

Rahul Gandhi's tweet comes after several personalities like Subramanian Swamy, Greta Thunberg, Chetan Bhagat and Sonu Sood have tweeted their support for the NEET and JEE aspirants. The hashtag #postponeNEET_JEE has been trending ever since the first lockdown was imposed in March. Students have been demanding postponement on the same grounds Gandhi mentioned in his tweet.

While the exams were postponed twice till now - once to June and later to September, the Supreme Court on August 17 dismissed the pleas of several students seeking further postponement of the exams. While JEE is scheduled for September 1-6, NEET is scheduled for September 13, according to the notice issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
