Reject NEP: Puducherry Teachers Association to CM V Narayanasamy

EdexLive Desk

Teachers Association, Puducherry on Friday urged Chief Minister V Narayanasamy and Education Minister R Kamalakannan to reject the New Education Policy (NEP) in the Union Territory.

In a memorandum submitted to Mr Narayanasamy and Mr Kamalakannan, the teachers Association maintained that learning three languages is only to impose Hindi.

Education through mother tongue plus one language (English) be continued here and no educationist will accept public examination for classes three, five and eight which will create hatred in the minds of students towards education.

The NEP is basically against social justice, and against the rights of the state governments.

State governments will lose their rights in education and it will be shifted to the Central list, the association said.

The imposition of Hindi and Sanskrit will in no way benefit the students, they added.

Listing out several drawbacks in the NEP, the Association urged the Chief Minister and Education Minister to reject the NEP in UT.

Association President S Senkathir, Secretary K Satheesh Kumar and treasurer R Ramesh were the signatories of the memorandum.
