Public to stage a protest march against liquor shop near school in Kozhikode

Demanding to cancel the license of the liquor shop functioning near several schools and colleges in Thiruvambadi Panchayath, hundreds of people including the school students will stage a protest march starting from Thiruvambadi Bus stand to the liquor shop on Monday. The protest march staged under the banner of Kerala Catholic Bishops Council (KCBC) will submit a plea before the State Government with the signature of the students and local residents in the region.

It is not just one school in the region but several schools including, Sacred Hearts UP School, Little Kids Nursery school, Infant Jesus English medium high school, Sacred Hearts HSS and Alphonse College of higher studies, are being affected due to this liquor shops, said the locals here.

Mostly the liquor shop in Kozhikode function during the night hours and the road leading to the liquor shop is constructed in an unscientific way, which is also affected the people living near this shop. Huge loads of mud has been deposited in this region for constructing the road, which leads to water logging in the nearby houses, they further opined.
