Vellore students to get first-hand experience about law, traffic discipline, civic sense by working with police

Student-police cadet programme, a platform that allows high school students to have first-hand learning experience on law, discipline, civic sense, etc, by working with police department, was inaugurated at Holy Cross Matriculation School at Sathuvachari in Vellore on Friday.

After inaugurating the programme, Collector A Shanmuga Sundram, while addressing the students gathering said, "This programme is aimed at guiding the youth in the right direction by inculcating in them respect for law, traffic discipline, civic sense, etc. Students will get first-hand experience by establishing a strong connection with the police department."

After Chennai, Kancheepuram and Thiruvallur, the student-police cadre programme is being set up in Vellore district. Under the programme, students of classes VIII and IX will be selected from 199 government and government-aided schools in the district, Shanmuga Sundram said.

Vellore Superintendent of Police (SP) Pravesh Kumar, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Mars were also present during the inauguration.
