Allegedly harassed by a teacher, Class 10 student commits suicide in Rajouri

A day after Teacher's Day was celebrated across parts of Jammu and Kashmir, a class tenth girl student committed suicide after she was allegedly harassed by her teacher in Manjakote area of Rajouri district.

Police, however, said the matter is being investigated.

"A student (name not disclosed) of the class tenth, age 16, student of Government High School, Galuti Manjakote in Rajouri district late on Thursday night allegedly committed suicide by consuming a poisonous substance," Manzoor Ahmad Kohli, Station House Officer, Manjakote here told UNI on Friday morning.

The SHO said the family has alleged harassment by a school teacher over some academic issue.

"We have registered a case under relevant sections and started the investigation," he said, adding that the body of the deceased has been shifted to the hospital for postmortem.
