The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the schedule for the examinations to be conducted by the agency from December 2019 to June 2020. NTA is all set to begin the application process for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main meant for admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture colleges across the country.
The examination dates span from January 6 to 11, 2020. Further, the results will be out on January 31. The online application process for JEE Main (I) 2020 will begin from September 3, 2019. The registration will end on September 30. The NTA has changed the exam pattern and has decreased the number of questions. Interested candidates can access the detailed syllabus for the exam at the official websites, jeemain.nic.in or nta.ac.in.
JEE Main Syllabus details:
The engineering exam will consist of 90 questions, each of which is four marks. JEE Main is for 360 marks and each question for four marks and for every wrong answer one mark is deducted.
Physics
This section will include questions on general topics, gaseous and liquid states, atomic structure and chemical bonding, energetics, chemical equilibrium, electrochemistry, chemical kinetics, solid-state, solutions, surface chemistry and nuclear chemistry. In will also include the general topics, mechanics, thermal physics, electricity and magnetism, optics and modern physics.
Mathematics
It will have questions on integral calculus, limit, continuity and differential ability, sets, relations and functions, complex numbers and quadratic equations, matrices and determinants, permutations and combinations, mathematical induction, binomial theorem, coordinate geometry, sequences and series, mathematical induction, three dimensional geometry, vector algebra, statics and probability, trigonometry and mathematical reasoning.
Chemistry
This section will include both organic and inorganic Chemistry. The syllabus includes state of matter, chemical bonding and molecular structure, atomic structure, redox reaction and electrochemistry, chemical kinetics, solutions, chemical thermodynamics, equilibrium, surface chemistry, d and f block elements, hydrogen, block elements, classification of elements and periodicity in priorities, co-ordination compounds, environmental chemistry, organic compounds containing halogens, hydrocarbons, environmental chemistry, polymers, biomolecules, chemistry in everyday life, principles related to practical chemistry.
The aptitude test syllabus constitutes of two subsections, namely, awareness section wherein questions based in buildings, materials, persons, visualising, analytical reasoning, mental ability and different dimensional objects will be asked. In the other section, three dimensional and perceptions, sketching of scenes and activity for the memory of urbanscape will be tested.
