The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2020 examination schedule was released by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi on Thursday. As per the schedule, the IIT GATE will be held on February 1, 2, 8 and 9, 2020 and will be conducted in eight sessions. The examinattion will be conducted for a total of 25 subjects and it will be purely a Computer Based Test (CBT).
Over eight lakh candidates have registered to appear for GATE this year. Last year, 9.27 lakh appeared for the exam. The examination centres are spread in different cities across India, as well as, in six cities outside India. The number of applications was expected to drop anyway after the Ministtry of Human Resource Development's (MHRD) decision to raise the MTech fee hike at IITs.
The GATE 2020 score would reflect the relative performance level of the candidate in a particular subject, which is quantified based on the several years of examination data. As per the official bulletin of GATE 2020 on the website- gate.iitd.ac.in, the admit cards will be released on January 3, 2020.
The GATE 2020 score will be valid for three years from the date of announcement of the results.

According to the official website, Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
