19-year-old Cuddalore college student stabbed to death after she came back from college

A 19-year-old girl was allegedly murdered inside her home at Karuveppilankurichi near Virudhachalam of Cuddalore district on Wednesday.

A second year BA English Literature student of a private college in Virudhachalam, Thilagavathi was alone at home when she was killed by unknown persons, police sources said. The girl's father, a tea vendor, and mother, a daily wage labourer, had gone for work when the incident happened.

The police said that the girl returned from college at around 4:30 pm and at 5 pm. She had also made a phone call to her uncle and informed that someone stabbed her. As she pleaded him to come home for her rescue, the uncle rushed to the home and found that the front door locked from outside.

He broke open the door and found Thilagavathi lying in a pool of blood, with stab injuries in her stomach and hand. Although she was taken to a nearby hospital, doctors declared her brought dead, said the police.

The Virudhachalam police registered a case and launched an investigation to nab the accused.
