The decision of appointing the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct the JNU Entrance Examination 2019 was subject to a lot of criticism from the university's student and teaching community. There have been allegations that the new examination isn't transparent and that there is no system in place to administer its proper conduct. Amidst all this, the exams were conducted from May 27 to May 30. But a few days later, students have raised concerns over the exam, suspecting paper leak. 

Vishnu Prasad, a PhD student in the university's School of International Studies was the first to raise this issue, after he came across this year's question paper in a couple of WhatsApp groups, right after the exam got over. The questions, along with the options that appeared in the examination were apparently written on a book. Vishnu tells us what was dubious this. "Since this is a computerised exam, the candidates can only take their hall ticket inside the exam hall. It is highly impossible for someone to come out of the hall with a notebook or a piece of paper, with the questions and options written on it. This raises a lot of questions."

Even though Vishnu doesn't assert that there is a paper leak, he doubts the exam's credibility and demands an inquiry. He has also written to the university's Vice-Chancellor demanding the same. "The VC, however, told me that the NTA's credibility cannot be questioned, as its expertise in conducting exams is unmatched. I had submitted an application to him, but he refused to accept it, saying that he is against harming trees. But he had also not seen my email which I had sent before that. But, in the end, he said that he will forward my email to the NTA," he says. 

"It is disheartening to see that our apprehensions and speculations about the entrance are coming true. I merely want an inquiry to restore trust in the system," Vishnu concludes.
