A pall of gloom descended on Harina village of Sabroom in south Tripura after death of 25-year-old nursing student Rahul Das in a road accident on Monday recording a Facebook live while driving a motor bike on the national highway.

Rahul's pillion rider, Suman Das (26) has been fighting for survival at a hospital and is still in critical condition. The entire joy ride including the accident was broadcast live on Facebook.

According to reports, Rahul was student at a nursing college in Kolkata and had arrived at the village to meet his parents for span of two days. He supposed to return on an evening flight on Monday.

Before leaving for Agartala airport from his village, Rahul went to see the upcoming railway station in Sabroom with his friend. Even after 12 hours of his death more than 10,000 people watched the video and more than 300 followers have shared it.

However, in the evening, when the news of Rahul's death spread, his Facebook wall was flooded with hundreds of condolence messages.

According to sources, while returning from the Sabroom station, Rahul was performing the Facebook live and was also driving the bike with one hand, in a relatively high speed.

Suddenly, the bike hit the pallor of a bailey bridge in the middle and Rahul died on the spot while Suman received serious head injury and both of them were taken to a hospital immediately.

Suman was shifted to Agartala Govt Medical College after Rahul was declared dead by the doctors.

According to Rahul's Facebook profile, he had made a similar live video on Facebook on the Eastern bypass in Kolkata a few hours before he had boarded his plane for Agartala on July 20.

He was repeatedly urged not to do such stunts and videos, which he had been practising for the past few years but he did not listen, said his father Nirmal Das. "We were always worried for his safety," he added.
