An assistant cook of Paduvalahippe pre-metric hostel in Holenarasipur is absconding following a complaint by villagers for allegedly sending some hostel students to field for work on Sunday. Kumar, a cooking assistant, allegedly sent Class 7 and 8 students to the field to clear debris and weed on Sunday evening.

He had sent 10 students to the field and forced them to clear debris. Sources said that Kumar had sent the students to the field after reportedly taking the permission from the hostel warden Krishna Kumar.

Kumar had fled the spot when media persons arrived, after one of the villagers had informed them. The villagers lodged a complaint against both Kumar and Krishna with the district Backward Classes and Minorities officer Harsha and urged him to take action in this regard.

Earlier, Holenarasipur police had detained warden Krishna Kumar for allegedly stocking more than hundred bags of rice meant for PDS system in one of the hostel rooms illegally during the Parliamentary elections.
