182 primary teachers to be appointed within 8 days: Goa CM

Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday assured the State Assembly that 182 primary teachers will be appointed within eight days.

Speaking during Question Hour, Dr Sawant, who also holds Education Portfolio, said there were problems in getting candidates from sports quota, freedom fighters and ST category.

The Chief Minister said the government would provide more than one teacher if the number of students exceeded 22 in primary schools. Dr Sawant also informed that posts of teachers were vacant in higher secondary schools as well and they would be filled through promotions and recruitment within six months.

He said he had instructed the department to issue advertisement to fill up the vacancies.
