17-year-old Intermediate student tries to end life by jumping from college hostel building in Vijayawada

A 17-year-old Intermediate first year student attempted suicide by jumping from Narayana College hostel building at Edupugallu village in Kankipadu mandal of Krishna district around 12.30 am on Wednesday.

Kankipadu circle inspector N Chalapathi Rao said that the boy was identified as Panarthi Venkata Sanath Kumar from Tenali town in Guntur district.

He was studying first year MPC at the college adjacent to the hostel. The incident happened at around 12.30 am while most of the wardens and other fellow students were asleep. After hearing his screams, the security personnel rushed him to a private hospital near Kankipadu where doctors said his health condition was stable. He suffered major fractures.

Upon receiving the information, a team of police personnel reached the spot and took the statements of college staff . The staff explained that Sanath had taken the extreme step due to a clash with a classmate. However, his fellow students denied the claim. ''We have informed Sanath's parents about the incident and they reached the hospital. A case under section 309 of CrPC (attempted suicide) was registered and further investigation is still on," he said.
