SFI wins 10 out of 11 main panel seats in Pondicherry University

SFI sweeps the Pondicherry University elections by winning 10 out of the 11 seats in the PU student's council. In a first in the university's history, SFI became the first student organisation to win the Students Council by contesting alone winning 10 out of 11 main panel seats.  The remaining one seat was won by an independent candidate. The results were declared on Saturday.

Previously, in the academic year 2015-2016, the alliance between SFI and ASA won the council. But this time, SFI candidates contested independently. "This is a win against communalisation and commercialisation of education," says A Anand, a student, who is also a member of the SFI Central Executive Committee. Junaid Nazar, an MA sociology II year student got elected as the President. The other council members are Padaknti Shiva Ramakrishna (secretary), Sugadev V (Vice President(Male)), Shonima Nelliat (Vice President(Female)), Arun T C,  Arjun S K V, Mohammed Ramees P V (Executive Council Members(Male)) and Bharathi V, Naveena V M and Neelima Narayanan (Executive Council Member(Female)).
