PTA president booked for sexually abusing students in Kochi committed suicide

In a major twist in the case related to the sexual abuse of three school students in Kadungallur in Aluva, the PTA president, the accused and who was on run evading arrest in the case committed suicide on Tuesday.

According to police officers, Ajith Kumar, 56, of West Kadungallur was found hanging inside a lodge room at Athani near Aluva on Tuesday morning. The death was occurred at around 10 pm on Monday.

"When he was walking out from the room many persons had seen him between 8 and 9 pm. He used a plastic rope to hang himself on the roof,” a police officer said. The body was handed over to his relatives after conducting a postmortem.

The ChildLine had informed Binanipuram police about the incident that happened in the school about two months ago. Following this, the police had registered a case against the accused and also taken statements from the children in the presence of a magistrate. The accused has been absconding after his anticipatory bail plea rejected by the court. Binanipuram police were on an intense search for the accused for the past several days.
