The government has created two more educational districts - Bhavani and Sathy - in Erode revenue district, in addition to the existing Erode and Gobi, as part of restructuring the School Education Department.

There will be many changes in the department from June 1, as per GO 101/18.5.2018, officials said.

Now, Erode revenue district has one chief educational officer (CEO), two district educational officers (DEOs) and one district elementary educational officer (DEEO). There are two assistant elementary educational officers (AEEOs) in each block.

The inspector of matriculation schools (IMS) is in charge of private self-financing, matriculation, CBSE and ICSE schools.

The government has now merged the primary and matriculation directorates with the Directorate of School Education so that all schools in the revenue district come under the CEO hereafter. The DEOs will help him in the administration.

Accordingly, from June 1, Erode, Modakurichi and Kodumudi blocks would come under the Erode DEO, Gobi, TN Palayam, Nambiyur and Andhiyur under Gobi DEO, Thalavadi, Bhavanisagar and Sathy under Sathy DEO, Ammapet, Bhavani, Perundurai and Chennimalai under Bhavani DEO.

The AEEOs, to be called ‘block educational officers’ hereafter, will be in charge of classes from one to eight. The DEO would look into the work of the IMS by supervising all private schools, besides government schools. The CEO would be in charge of the overall administration of school education in the district, they added.
