Upset that her mother refused to make her noodles when she came home from college, a nursing diploma student has allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison.

Sasibhavani (20), from Sakthi Nagar in Thiruvanaikaval, allegedly ate rat poison on Monday evening after her mother Anitha rejected her demand, asked her to eat rice instead of noodles and went out, sources said.

On her return, Anitha (40), who works in a fruit shop and is the sole breadwinner of the family, said she had found her daughter lying unconscious. Sasibhavani was rushed to Srirangam Government General Hospital, where she died around 5 am on Tuesday.

The only daughter of the late Madhankumar and Anitha, Sasibhavani used to snack on noodles and take them to class often, sources added.

A case has been registered in the Srirangam police station.
