A day after the State Pre-University Teachers Association announced their decision to boycott second-year exam evaluations in protest of government inaction, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait stayed true to his promise and succeeded in calling a truce with the lecturers. Following a marathon meeting by Sait on Wednesday, that lasted for five hours, the association has decided to withdraw the
boycott.

"Even the Chief Minister spoke to us over the phone and agreed to give one increment which was due to us. Considering that we have decided to withdraw the protest called," said Association President Thimmaiah  Purle. He added that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also called a meeting with association members on Thursday after which he will make the official announcement.

"All the lecturers will be taking part in the evaluation work of second PU examinations which is scheduled to begin from Monday," added Purle. The protest was called by the State association on Wednesday following the Karnataka government's failure in meeting and addressing their demands
