Good news learners, Byju's learning app soon to launch in Hindi, Malayalam

BYJU’S – The Learning App, which has over 1.5 crore registered users and nine lakh annual paid subscription, will soon be launched in regional languages to benefit more students. The app will be released first in Malayalam, followed by Hindi and other languages.

“We want students studying in Malayalam medium or regional language mediums to also have access to the app. We are aware of the financial situation of such schools and are hence looking at providing subsidised options or even providing students with the app for free. To do this, we will need the support of NGOs and the government which we are hopeful of getting,” said Byju Raveendran, founder and CEO of BYJU’S.

“While our user base is bigger than other similar apps, it does not even constitute a significant chunk of the country's student population. Accessibility and language barriers are the problems for this. So, we are trying to help with the regional language plans and possible free distribution to government schools,” he said.

Encouraged by the response from the state's students, the app recently launched a version for the Kerala State Education Board syllabus in English. The app, in which students spend an average 53 minutes daily, has a renewal rate of 85 per cent. The app also has a market among Indian students in the UAE.
