Colourful programmes conducted for the 'pravesanolsavam' in all district schools in Telangana

About 10,752 new students entered the world of letters from the Siddipet district in Telangana on Friday. The Education Department and local self-government bodies had arranged colourful programmes for the 'pravesanolsavam' in all schools, including government and aided.

The district-level pravesanolsavam was held at Government HS, Pollathai.

District panchayat vice-president Daleema Jojo inaugurated the programme. Works Minister G Sudhakaran inaugurated the enrolment programme of the Ambalappuzha educational district at New LP School, Purakkad. Municipal chairman Thomas Joseph inaugurated the programme in Alappuzha municipality.

Over 1.5 lakh children are undergoing schooling in the district in the 2018-19 academic year, said Education Department officials. The Surva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) and the district panchayat had allotted fund for the district-level pravesanolsavam.

The state government distributed five lakh textbooks to students in the district. The Scheduled Caste Development Department officers said the stipends of the SC/ST students would be transferred to the accounts of the headmasters next week. The distribution of mid-day meal began from the first day of schooling. The headcount of students will be held next week, the officers said.
