Karnataka sex scandal: Nursing college prof accused of demanding sexual favours for marks

EdexLive Desk

A nursing college in Karwar has found itself amidst controversy after one of its faculty member has been accused of asking sexual favours to give extra marks and attendance to the girls students. In this regard, a social worker from Karwar, Madhav Naik, has lodged a complaint with Karwar town police station on Tuesday.

In the complaint, the faculty member has been accused of approaching girls and trying to lure them for extra marks and attendance. Naik said that the students were scared to come forward and lodge the complaint, hence he decided to take up the case to help the students. Police, however, are yet to make an arrest in the case.

An investigating officer said that the case has many loopholes and students have denied charges made on the faculty. "We are checking whether the accused was selective in his approach or he had offered the same to many people. There are also chances where some of the parents are pressurising the girls and the complainant to withdraw the complaint. Hence we are investigating the case in all angles," the officer said.

College authorities have denied allegations and said that there have been no complaints against the faculty in question.
