This Bengaluru company's online platform allows you to leaf through a video, just like you'd do with a book. Say hello to VideoKen

When you need to watch a video to prep for a presentation, test or even for a lecture, it often takes the fun out of it. Almost makes it like reading a plain, old textbook right? Not if these guys from International Institute for Information and Technology, Bengaluru have something to do with it. Using their online platform VideoKen, you can practically browse through a video like you do a textbook —with the ability to look through the table-of-contents to understand the flow of the textbook and glance through the index pages to identify key concepts, jump to those pages and read what is relevant.

Started in January 2017, along with a few current and former executives of Flipkart including Ravi Garikipati (CTO), Hari Vasudev (SVP), Surojit Chatterjee (SVP) and Ashish Agrawal (SVP), it has now become a force to reckon with in the EduTech space. Based out of the International Institute of Information Technology, Bengaluru, it was among the winners of Elevate 100, a funding platform for start-ups run by the government.

“VideoKen is a continuous learning platform that keeps employees skilled, productive and happy. Our powerful video platform helps more effectively utilise freely available videos on virtually any topic, and curate high quality, effective and engaging learning content," explains Raj Sharma, Brand Manager, “VideoKen’s customers have been able to deliver organised and bite-sized training 70% faster than before while saving money on the content. Our platform encourages and tracks self-learning and peer-to-peer learning leading to greater learner engagement and personalisation,” he adds.

Besides indexing and sorting videos out, you can also use the platform to clip interesting parts of public videos to use in presentations and other mediums. Much like Evernote, VideoKen lets the user insert notes within videos, highlight and share socially. It also empowers employees and students to search, curate and share learning content, which increases their general usage.
