IIT Roorkee student bags Rs 80 lakh job offer despite the COVID-19 pandemic

Despite the pandemic, the students at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee had a whooping first day of the placement session until 2 pm on Tuesday with the highest domestic offer as high as Rs 80 lakhs per annum. A total of 272 domestic jobs and three international jobs were offered by 25 giants.

Firms like Alphonso, Amazon, Analog Devices, AppDynamics India, Bajaj Auto, Codenation, Cohesity, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, Intel Technology, Jaguar Land Rover, JPMorgan Chase & Co, Micron Technologies Operations India LLP, Microsoft, Oracle, Qualcomm India, Quantbox Research, SAP Labs, Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), Sprinklr India, Squarepoint Capital, Texas Instruments, Uber, Vedanta Limited (Cairn Oil & Gas) offered jobs to the students at the varsity.

In the previous year (2019-20), during their first placement session, IIT Roorkee students had managed to secure 139 pre-placement offers while this year that number too has seen a significant rise — this year it is 153 pre-placement offers. While last year the highest paid job offered was of Rs 60 lakhs per annum, this year there has been a rise of 33.3 per cent to a whopping Rs 80 lakh per annum.
