Will keep on fighting for students' rights: Ashish Lamba, NSUI's sole representative in DUSU 2019

The Congress-affiliated NSUI's Ashish Lamba is the student political organisation's only representative in the newly elected Delhi University Students' Union. While the RSS affiliated ABVP that dominated the previous union managed to win the posts of President, Vice President and Joint Secretary, Lamba won the Secretary's post with a majority of 1053 votes, against ABVP's Yogit Rathi.

Even though he is the only representative of his organisation, Lamba was quite confident about the work that he can do for the students' welfare. A third-year LLB student in the university's Campus Law Centre, he says, " I'm really happy about the results.  I'm in a union with three ABVP members and I'm almost quite certain that they would create hindrances. But I'll keep on fighting for the students' rights," he says. An ardent hockey enthusiast, Lamba had represented the Delhi University Hockey Team in the Commonwealth Hockey Championship at Glasgow and was a part of the Delhi State Hockey Team.

Lamba also observes that there aren't many difficulties for him to carry out his duties. "I've been fighting for a cause for the past three years. I'll keep doing that. We will also ensure that the university's students get metro passes. This is something that we've been working for," he says.

NSUI bagged a DUSU Central Panel seat in the previous year too. Akash Choudhary was the secretary in the outgoing union.
