After the Aligarh Muslim University Students’ Union took notice of the right wing activists’ demand seeking the ban on burqas and skullcaps at Dharm Samaj Degree College, Aligarh and of their threat of imposing the saffronisation on the college campus on Thursday, they have now sent a memorandum to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) demanding action against Amit Goswami and others for threatening minorities students at the college.
 
AMUSU President M Salman Imtiaz handed over a memorandum to the SSP, seeking action against the right-wing leaders. "These saffron right wing groups are filled with hate and they do not want to see Muslim boys and girls in the institutions of higher education. Such elements are a threat to constitutional values of freedom to education and freedom to the dress code for Indian minorities. These elements are not the enemies of Muslims alone. they threaten Sikhs, Dalits and Christians as well," they stated in the memorandum.

They demanded that the right-wingers "must be charged for acting as a stumbling block to the right to education of minorities. The must be also charged of harassing women at the college. They must be treated as a threat to peace and tranquility at the said college campus."

All of this comes in reaction to a memorandum handed over to the Chief Proctor of Dharm Samaj Degree College on Wednesday by right-wing student leader Amit Goswami and others who warned that if the college authorities failed to take steps in this regard within next 72 hours, they would launch a drive among students and make them wear saffron outfits while attending classes.

"The SSP has assured us that he will set up an enquiry regarding the matter and he said he will not tolerate any kind of tension among any community. Right now, we will follow what the SSP has assured us of," Salman told Edex.
