A 16-year-old third-year student from TRR Polytechnic College, Meerpet in Hyderabad committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence on November 3, 2019. Allegedly, harassment in the hands of her college lectures pushed the student to take this drastic step.

The girl, along with her classmates, had submitted their project after which, the lectures remarked that it was not up to the mark and abused them. They also threatened the students saying they will fail them. Students alleged that since then, two lecturers have been harassing them even for small issues and have been trying to find fault with everything they do.

The students of TRR Polytechnic College, who held the lecturers and the college responsible for the young student's death, were seen protesting outside the campus on Monday, November 4, 2019. The traffic was blocked for an hour and students raised slogans against the college. Hence, the college remained closed on Monday while the police assured justice to the students.

On the other hand, her family went ahead with the final rites of the deceased without filing a police case. Upon getting in touch with the police officials, they said that they did not receive any complaint regarding the incident and if the parents complain, they will investigate the matter, they said.
