Rajib Ray elected as Delhi University Teachers' Association president for a second term

Rajib Ray was elected on Friday as the president of Delhi University Teachers' Association (DUTA) for a second term, officials said.

Ray, who belongs to Left-affiliated Democratic Teachers' Front (DTF), defeated AK Bhagi of the right-affiliated National Democratic Teachers' Front (NDTF) by a slim margin of 269 votes.

Ray polled 3,750 votes while Bhagi secured 3,481 votes. According to officials, 518 votes were found to be invalid.

The results were announced in the early hours on Friday. Polling took place on Thursday and witnessed a turnout of 82.36 per cent.

Ray was elected in 2017 as DUTA president and has secured a second term.

The DUTA president has a tenure of two years. The DTF has been alleging that the Centre wants to privatise education and has been opposed to the New Education Policy.
