Want to join the army and have no idea how to? DAV Chennai is making it easy for you by launching a first of its kind coaching class for students who are just out of school and aspire to be a part of the Indian army.

The National Defence Academy entrance examination is scheduled to be held on September 9 this year and DAV will be conducting a 10-weekend course. The classes are open for male students who have passed their 12th standard. The classes will make the students proficient in all subjects pertaining to the entrance. The classes started on June 30, but they are continuing to take in on-spot applicants as well. The classes go on till September 8.

Vikas Arya, director, DAV groups said that the NDA is hoping to encourage more students to join the army through this initiative, "These days students prefer to pursue more mainstream careers like engineering and medicine. We have lots of students applying but we don't always get "good" applicants. Many people pass the test but then fail at the following levels because they are unable to put up with the stress that comes with the different rounds of selection they're put through. So we are hoping to that through these classes we will be able to select people who are good and also trained better," the director explained.

Another interesting aspect of the classes is that they are not just limited to academic areas but they also have a lot of talks and inspirational lectures. These lectures will be given by noted personnel from the armed forces which will make it all the appealing to students especially because they get an insight into the lives of soldiers.
