A visually challenged student's brainchild on Sunday saw students of the University of Hyderabad (UoH),  on the occasion of White Cane Day, walk through the campus blindfolded on Sunday. The event was organised by Rangareddy Thouti Reddy. Reddy, a student doing his Masters in Economics at UoH, said the event aims at sensitising the student fraternity by raising awareness about the needs and issues of the differently abled. "Through the walk, we also aim to assert the need for physical, informational and service accessibility and adoption of inclusive attitudes, policies and practices," he said. 

Stay Strong: Several students showed up in solidarity with the cause

At the event, a few differently abled students came together to launch a website forum — Association for Inclusive Development (UoH). With the help of the website, volunteers can register for being scribes for visually and differently abled students for examinations. A digital database English-Telugu Directory was also launched on this occasion.

The event saw the participation of University Pro Vice-Chancellor P Prakash Babu, Dean of School of Social Sciences at UoH and other professors from across departments. The event was inaugurated by MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy.
