Russian cosmonaut inaugurates Astro club at Hindustan University as part of the 'International Seminar on Space' odyssey

Mikhail Kornienko inaugurated the 'Nebula Astro Club' at Hindustan University. The Astro club was inaugurated as part of the International Seminar on Space odyssey (ISSO-II) that was held at the University campus today. Mikhail Kornienko also addressed the students at the International Seminar on his experience in Space.

Mikhail Kornienko has the distinction of spending 560 days in space and has also worked as a flight engineer at the International Space Station (ISS) for more than a year.

Interacting with students, Mikhail Kornienko answered a variety of questions relating to space, other planets and questions relating to human settlements in other planets. As the Cosmonaut was conversant only in Russian he interacted with the students with the help of a translator.

Speaking during the inaugural of the International Seminar, Ashok Verghese, Director, Hindustan University said that the inauguration of the Nebula Astro Club at Hindustan University will pave an insight to space research for Indian Students.

The seminar saw the participation of over 550 students from Institutions from across Chennai. The University has also arranged a mobile planetarium and telescope to feed students curiosity. This seminar was the second edition of the International seminar on Space Odyssey that took place in February 2017 in which NASA representatives and international TEDx speakers participated.
