Virtual Janmashtami celebrated at Amrita Vidyalayam Senior Secondary School

On August 11, 2020, Amrita Vidyalayam Senior Secondary School, Nesapakkam, organised a virtual celebration of Janmashtami, which flowered into a grand success, owing to the absolutely zealous participation of its students and the binding presence of the Management, faculty and parents. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the School Principal Smt. Subashini Haridas.  In his Presidential Address, the School Correspondent, Swami Vinayamritananda Puri, highlighted the significance of this blissful occasion, stressing on the relevance of Lord Krishna’s teaching with regard to the present situation. He also advised students to spread love and live in the moment wholeheartedly. Shivani Siva Kumar of std XI delivered the welcome address.

The virtual programme commenced with an enthralling bhajan presentation by our students. As a part of the celebration, various competitions like Sloka recitation, Krishnashtakam, Balamukundashtakam, Clay modelling, Doodle art, Storyboard, Mono-acting, Storytelling, Paper weaving, Colouring, Drawing, Oratorical etc. were conducted earlier. Nearly 918 students from Pre KG to XII std participated enthusiastically and exhibited their talents. The prize winners presented their slokas, ashtakams and artworks virtually. The tiny tots of Pre-KG donned themselves in the attire of Lord Krishna and Radha, frolicking around with flutes, peacock feathers and matkas. Students displayed beautiful garlands made out of natural flowers and flutes modelled out of clay. A colourful dance performance by students who were dressed up as Krishna and gopikas added to the delight. The celebration culminated with the Vote of thanks and Shanti mantra. The virtual celebration was indeed truly informative, enlightening and entertaining, all the same. The event has been uploaded to Youtube and has received 4000 plus views.
