National Institute of Nutrition to hold awareness programme on laboratory animals

National Institute of Nutrition(NIN) will be conducting an awareness program on laboratory animals as part of its celebrations of the World Laboratory Animal Day on April 30.

The awareness program will include lectures by eminent speakers on laboratory animals, breeding/health management, modern tools latest techniques for the welfare of animals, ethics and approvals in lab animal usage and use of technology for minimizing the use of animals for experimental purposes.

World Laboratory Animal Day is observed in recognition of the role of laboratory animals in research for developing diagnostic kits, pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals for the benefits of human beings and livestock.

Laboratory animals also help us in understanding the putative mechanisms behind the development of diseases among humans."Research Scholars, Post Graduate Students, Social Scientists, Clinicians and those working in lab animal experimentation at Public and Private Institutions may register by downloading the form from NIN’s website - www.nin.res.in," said NIN
