Check out the trio behind PunDo, the FB page that intends all its puns

Seema Rajpal

On January 26, 2018, Dileep Kandula, Santosh Sarma and Prakash Gollapalli decided to take punning in Telugu to the next level. They started PunDo, a Facebook page that has given us gems like 'My brother is a fat man. I call him LAVANYA' and many others. When we ask Kandula about their intentions behind starting the page, the 25-year-old says, “All three of us enjoy playing with words. And while we see a lot of popular pages do the same in English and Hindi, we wanted to do it in Telugu too.”

Pun's on you: The trio use nicknames while posting like The Leap, Gaddappa and Manchi PUNodu, which are puns on their own names

The three musketeers always stay connected through a WhatsApp group, where they constantly discuss puns that they can post on the page. And like any other good meme maker, the trio too uses software like Photoshop to create the templates while posting from their desktops and Phonto while using their phones. "We are not restricted to movies and sports alone, which are the most popular themes in this country. We try to come up with puns on whatever we see around us," says Kandula, who also works in IBM. While Kandula works as a software engineer, Sarma is a private employee and Gollapalli works for a media company. In addition to puns, they are quite adept at making memes too.

And though they haven't even completed a month, they already have more than 1,500 followers. But that's not all. They are hoping to reach the benchmark of one lakh followers soon. "We want to use more interactive media like gifs and videos too," says Kandula, who has directed three short films already and is interested in both writing and direction. Within a short span of time, the page has garnered rave reviews, which is encouraging the trio to pun more and more.

Wide net: They throw in occasional Hindi Puns too
