Four Kashmiri students suspended by Rajasthan University for celebrating Pulwama attacks via WhatsApp status

Four Kashmiri girls, all paramedical students, were suspended from the National Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) for sharing celebratory pictures with anti-national remarks post-Pulwama attack on Whatsapp. 

Talveen Manzoor, Iqra, Zohra Nazir and Uzma Nazir were suspended on Saturday after students protested that the four girls be removed from the campus immediately. The Registrar's office issued a notice suspending them from the college and the hostel as well. "In respect of the severe terrorist attack on our security forces at Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir on February 14. You have posted an antinational message on your WhatsApp for celebrating martyrs of Pulwama terror attack. Nims University Rajasthan will not tolerate and strictly condemns such activities," the notice read. “Since the above act of theirs is grave and serious in nature, these students are hereby suspended with immediate effect from college and hostel.”

While Talveen and Zohra are both second-year BSc students of Operation Theatre Technology, Iqra studies BPharma and is in her second-year. Uzma, the fourth student, is pursuing her BSc in Radiology and Imageology Technology.

According to university officials, the students left the campus at 5.30pm on Saturday. The police are trying to locate them so that they can be provided proper protection.
