Almost three out of four of the MLAs who won the Assembly Elections 2018 in Chhattisgarh have completed their graduate degrees. However, 12 per cent and 17 per cent have graduated Class X and high school (Class XII) respectively. According to data collated from election portal myneta.info, the percentages actually point towards the fact that the Congress, who won the majority in the state has an evidently high number of graduates and postgraduates among them. There's also one PhD holder out of the total 90 who contested in the elections.

Interestingly, there are also 10 lawyers, 5 engineers and 7 doctors in this assembly. This trend definitely showcases a deviation from the standard norm that the average Indian politician is uneducated and is not capable of conducting his own meetings or attending international conferences.

The Assembly election results in Chhattisgarh this year came as a major setback for the Bharatiya Janata Party that was in power in the state for the past 15 years. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh has accepted defeat and has also taken "moral responsibility" for the loss. And as for the Congress, it was a tall order for the party which desperately needed a comeback in the state, as well as at the centre. After the final counting of votes, the Indian National Congress managed to establish a clear majority by winning 68 out of 90 seats across Chhattisgarh. While the BJP secured 15 seats, JCC (J), BSP, CPI got 5, 2 and zero seats respectively.

Apart from these promising numbers, 16 MLAs have passed Class XII, 11 have passed Class X, 7 who have passed Class VIII and V and one of them is literate.
